A press conference was held earlier this month, in Shanghai to officially present the UIM F1H2O World Championship , China, which is scheduled to take place from October 4 to 6. This prestigious event marks the much-anticipated return of the F1H2O World Championship to Shanghai after a 20-year hiatus, bringing the exhilarating world of inshore powerboat racing back to one of the most vibrant cities in Asia.

Returning to Shanghai, the championship will be held at the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in the Baoshan District, offering a stunning waterfront venue that is set to provide a spectacular backdrop for this high-octane event. The venue, located along the estuary of the Yangtze River, will allow fans to experience the action up close as the world’s best drivers navigate the waters in a test of skill, speed, and strategy.

With Shanghai being one of China’s most dynamic cities, the UIM F1H2O Grand Prix aims to highlight the city’s modern infrastructure, vibrant culture, and international appeal. According to the Shanghai Sports Bureau, the Grand Prix, which will be broadcast to over 100 countries worldwide, is expected to have a significant international visual impact, offering a unique opportunity to showcase the city of Shanghai and the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, one of the most renowned landmarks for water sports.

“The arrival of top-tier sporting events like the F1H2O World Championship signifies that a region or city is focusing on urban renewal, as well as the development of culture, commerce and tourism” – said a representative of the Baoshan District during the press conference – “The event will shine a spotlight on the district’s waterfront and reinforce its growing reputation as a global destination for aquatic sports”.

With extensive global media coverage and the support of local and international partners, the UIM F1H2O Grand Prix of Shanghai is set to bolster the city’s role as a key player in the international sports scene while providing substantial economic and cultural benefits to the Baoshan area.

Nicolò di San Germano, H2O Racing Founder and organizer of the F1H2O World Championship, sent a video message to greet the authorities and all attendees. In his message, he expressed his immense joy at the return of the Grand Prix to Shanghai after 20 years, stating, “I am extremely happy to bring the F1H2O Grand Prix back to Shanghai after two decades. This city holds a special place in the history of our championship, and we are thrilled to be part of its vibrant sports and cultural landscape once again.”

Many of the drivers participating in the Grand Prix also sent video messages, expressing their excitement and enthusiasm for the upcoming race in Shanghai. They shared their joy at returning to such a prestigious venue and are looking forward to competing in what promises to be one of the highlights of the F1H2O World Championship season.
