Organized by the Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club under the auspices of the Presidency, with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and in cooperation with the Governorship of Istanbul, and with the main sponsorship of DHL Express Turkey, the details of The Istanbul stage of the 5th Presidential International Yacht Races have been announced. The races will be held on 26-29 October. On 29 October Republic Day, the Bosphorus will be colored with sailboats.
Glorious Feast on the Bosphorus
The Republic Cup excitement will now be experienced in the Presidential 5th International Yacht Races, which is the only yacht race organized between two continents in the world. The Republic Cup stage of the races will start on 26 October with the “Fişekhane stage”. On 29 October, the Bosphorus will be colored with sailboats. Competitors from all over the world will compete on the challenging course of the Bosphorus for the Republic Cup. The Bosphorus stage will start with a moment of silence in front of Dolmabahçe on 29 October in honor of Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms.
Intercontinental Race for the Presidential Cup
At the end of the Bodrum and Istanbul stages of the Presidential 5th International Yacht Races, the team with the best overall score will be awarded the title of the Presidential 5th International Yacht Races Champion and the Presidential Cup. The Istanbul stage will end on 29 October with a spectacular award ceremony at Fişekhane, where the enthusiasm of the Republic will be experienced.

Speaking at the Presidential International Yacht Race press conference, Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu, President of Istanbul Offshore Yacht Racing Club, said: “29 October, one of the most important and beautiful days for all of us, is approaching. I would like to draw your attention to one issue. While coming to these days, the breaking moments have always been experienced at sea. We need to know the value of the blue homeland entrusted to us through many sufferings. This year, as every year, we will hold a ceremony to express our gratitude to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, as well as all martyrs and veterans who handed over the sacred trust to us. One of the biggest guarantees of our country’s future is Turkish sailors. We intend to bring Turkish sailors together with our people on this meaningful day.”
“The Race Showing to the World How Turkey is a Centre”
Özlem Akdurak, President of the Turkish Sailing Federation, who said that they will celebrate the 5th anniversary of the races, said: “The Presidential Yacht Races is a valuable race that reveals the geography of our country to the world and shows the world how Turkey can be a center in every location where it is held. I believe it will be an enjoyable race full of success.”
